Bread Crust

 Have you ever unpacked 
A loaf of bread:
Impatient to glee at the
Soft, alluringly pale crumb
Ignoring the 
Hard, chewy crust?
The airy crumb:
Protected comfortably 
Within the confines 
Of the
Heat-exposed, 
Bearing the brunt of burn crust.
The crust: 
Dense and Antioxidant rich,
Quietly letting the crumb win:
Not imploring to be consumed,
Not loud, not argumentative;
For it chooses its peace
Over justifying its significance;
Contented to
Feed the hunger of 
The miniatures and microbes:
Birds around garbage,
Fungus and Bacteria
Than the greed
Of the several him and her!
