Transformation: From Despair to Joy

This little one had just fledged
Excited about
A new pairs of feathered attachments
And encouraged by the cool breeze,
She fluttered her wings
And was startled that
She was up and above the ground;
She called for her family:
And was shocked that they cheered!
In a reflex,
She tried hopping:
Her retracted legs
Refused her intent.
In fear she fluttered more:
The more she fluttered,
The higher she went.
Where am I? Where am I?
Disconcerted, she surveyed below,
And was astounded
By the breathtaking beauty.
"Oh my God! How lovely!,"
She wondered,
Drifting up and far.
Flutters and First Steps
Are the only enablers
In the transformation of despair
To Joy and Gratitude.
For many many more cheers!

Back story: I took a detour from my conventional path to home. As I walked into the corridor towards my foyer, my eyes set on something that looked like a ball of garbage. I intended to dispose the garbage - and realized at close quarters that it was a bird. Called up home and while waiting for rescue, cautioned passersby to tread carefully. In a few minutes, Sonny rushed to the scene with a bigger net and a box. Our first attempt to get the bird was in vain- while she was caught in the net, she fluttered out of the box before we could close the box. In a couple of more tries, we were able to box her up. It was a huge box, so she had sufficient space to flap her fears as we ferried her home. Informed NParks, who advised us to release her in the adjacent park. At the park, she refused to be released. On a subsequent call to NParks, we were asked to feed her some grains and water, until we wait for the NParks rescue team to arrive. We followed suggestions and she rested more peacefully. Upon arriving, the NParks personnel observed her carefully and commented, "She must have strayed from her family. Let me find her family and re-unite with them". This is the story of the hope that a little bird exuberated.

As long as this oriental white eye survives, Hope still survives.
